Germany and Turkey most Important Foreign Direct Investors in 2016 in Macedonia

The total foreign direct investments inflow in the Republic of Macedonia amount EUR 199,45 million in the nine months of 2016. Direct investments, according to the released data of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia, amount EUR 105,45 and undistributed-­reinvested earnings and part of the debt instruments is EUR 93.63 million.


The total direct investments in the Q1 2016 amount EUR 106,91 million and undistributed-reinvested earnings is EUR 91,51 million. EUR 36,07 million in Q2 2016, EUR 56,10 million in Q3 2016 and EUR 14,54 million as undistributed­-reinvested earnings.

The largest foreign direct investments inflow in Macedonia originated from Germany (EUR 23,20 million) followed by Turkey (EUR 23,14 million), Italy (EUR 12,46 million), Bulgaria (EUR 11,72 million) and Luxembourg (EUR 11,48 million).

Largest foreign direct investments in the first nine months of 2016 are found in the following sectors: manufacturing, financial and insurance activities, mining and quarrying, construction, electricity / gas / steam, air conditioning, arts, entertainment and recreation and other sports and recreational activities, betting.
