The European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET) adopted Tuesday the draftresolution on the Commission Report on Macedonia with 54 votes ‘for’ and 8 ‘against’, MIA reports from Brussels.
The committee members adopted 28 of the 318 amendments to the resolution, which reconfirms the eighth consecutive European Commission recommendation over the start of Macedonia’s EU accession talks, conditional to the meeting of the Przino agreement and the Urgent Reform Priorities.
The EP says the early parliamentary elections in Macedonia were held in an ordinary and calm atmosphere, in accordance with international standards and in line with OSCE/ODIHR recommendations and had a very high turnout.
MEPs expect the new government to accelerate, in cooperation with other parties, the reform process much needed to strengthen the country and its independence and sovereignty.
The main debate and voting of the EP Resolution on Macedonia is scheduled to take place at a plenary session on March 14. Its conclusions have only advisory role
