13th Festival of New German Film kicks off
“Tschick” film by famous director Fatih Akin will open the 13th Festival of New German Film in Skopje-based Millennium Cinema on Wednesday. German Ambassador Thomas Gerberich will open the festival, which will be held in Frosina cinema in the Youth Cultural Centre until Oct. 9. The festival will feature ten contemporary films from German cinema production. Besides Skopje, the films will also be screened in Bitola, Prilep, Ohrid, Veles, Tetovo, Kavadarci, Stip and Strumica. Seven people injured in heavy crash on the Skopje – Tetovo highway
Seven passengers, including one child, were injured in a car crash on Tuesday early afternoon on the Skopje – Tetovo highway. A Peugeot Boxer hit a Volkswagen Sharan with Albanian license plates and then slammed into the pay-toll booth near the village of Glumovo. All of those injured are from the Peugeot van and all are Albanian citizens. They are being provided treatment in the Skopje Clinic complex.
Citizens of Tetovo will protest against air pollution
Today, the citizens of Tetovo will gather at 13:00 pm in the city square to protest for clean air, because after the burning of the landfill, residents are complaining that in the city there is an unbearable stench. Macedonian champion Vardar scored a major win against Turkish Fenerbahce in their first Europa League qualifier at the Philip II of Macedon arena in Skopje. Meanwhile, the other Macedonian team in the qualifiers, Shkendija from Tetovo, was badly beaten by Milan. Two new games were played in the First Macedonian Football League (PMFL) this afternoon. At the start was played the derby in which champion Shkendija with 2-0 beat champion Vardar, in the match that was played in Tetovo. The 16. anniversary from the death of ten Macedonian Army (ARM) reservists in area Karpalak at Tetovo-Skopje motorway was observed at the site on Tuesday. Macedonian champions Vardar will face Turkey's Fenerbahce, while league runners-up Shkendija goes against Italian giants Milan in the UEFA Europa League play-offs, decided a draw in Nyon on Friday. German company Franz Kiel investment in Zelino to create 350 jobs
German company Franz Kiel producing passenger seats for buses and trains will invest in the Tetovo village of Zelino. The company at the start will produce bus seats for the Belgian Van Hool company, which already operates in Macedonia and afterwards plans to place its production in Europe, Asia, US and other global markets. Snow City 2017 kicks off at Popova Sapka
Traditional children’s event Snow City 2017 will be held on Feb. 20 to 25 at Popova Sapka ski resort, organised by the children’s culture center “Karpos” Skopje. Primary school students from Skopje, Gevgelija, Vinica and Tetovo are to create snow sculptures. As of Feb. 25 the centre will also organise “Caravan – Popova Sapka 2017” – one-day trip to the Snow City.
Lear Corporation opens large new textiles plant in Tetovo
The Lear Corporation opened its first plant in Macedonian, located in the Tetovo industrial zone. The American based manufacturer of textiles used in the automotive industry invested 15 million EUR in the plant and has initially employed 520 people, while aiming for up to 3.000 people. Lear initially began operating at an older site in Gostivar with 300 employees.
