Museum of Macedonia takes part in multisensory exhibition in Italy

The Museum of Macedonia is part of the exhibition "Women, Mothers, Goddesses”: Universal Languages and Metaphors in the Prehistoric Art" in the Italian city of Udine.

Running from Nov. 11 until Feb. 11, 2018, the show is organized by the City Museums of Udine in cooperation with the universities in Sienna and Florence.

The Museum of Macedonia at the exhibition displays commercial replicas of prehistoric figurines, bowls and models that are also made available for people with special needs so that they can touch them and inspect them.

"The exhibition offers a tactile interaction between visitors and cultural heritage, which is rarely implemented in museums. This interactive segment is only a part of a bigger exhibit that displays Paleolithic, Neolithic and Eneolithic figurines from Italy, Germany, Slovenia, Serbia, Romania, Ukraine, etc," the Museum of Macedonia has said.

Some 15 European institutions take part in the exhibition. It will include two conferences where participants will discuss ideas to make museums more accessible and open for wider audiences, including people with special needs.
