More than 800 artists from 27 countries will take part at this year's 58. edition of the Ohrid Summer Festival, traditionally held between July 12 and August 20. Macedonia’s representative Eye Cue failed late Tuesday to qualify for the final of the 63rd Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Lisbon, Portugal. Prominent Macedonian guitar player Vlatko Stefanovski promoted late Saturday in Skopje his first solo acoustic album Mother Tongue, released region-wide under the label of Croatia Records. Roxy Music singer and songwriter Brian Ferry will play the Macedonian Philharmonic Hall in Skopje on September 9. The violinist Bojan Ilkoski is to hold Monday evening a solo recital in the concert hall of the Macedonian Philharmonics performing works by J. S. Bach, N. Paganini, J. S. Bach and E. Ysaye. The leading jazz musician, Jan Akkerman will perform in Skopje on 9 November . The 70 year old Dutchman is known for his music, while he also has fans in Skopje, who will follow him in the “Stanica 26” music center. This is the first time that he performs in Skopje. “My repertoire in front of my fans in Skopje will be diverse. The Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra will start new season 2017/2018 in the new concert hall on Wednesday. The concert titled "New Beginning" will include pieces by Tchaikovsky, Respighi and Strauss, under the baton of Borjan Canev. The new hall, designed by architect Viktor Mihajlov, has state-of-the-art acoustics. It includes two concert halls, a big one with a 1,000-seat capacity, and a small one of 350 seats.
