The Research Center for Areal Linguistics (ICAL), a scholarly unit within the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, has launched the Macedonian Language Digital Archive website (http://damj.manu.edu.mk) developed over the past ten years. New school year begins in Macedonia
The new school year began on Monday. Due to the weekend, instead of the traditional start of the school year on September 1st, this year it began on the 4th. According to the Education and Science Ministry, 20.000 children enrolled in the first grade, 6.159 of whom in the capital Skopje. A total of 17.131 students enrolled in high schools, 5.496 of them in Skopje. Trade high schools enrolled 9.983 new students and 6.703 enrolled in the general practice, gymnasium type high schools.
Macedonian competitor wins bronze in the International Olympiad in Informatics
Filip Mihov (17) won the bronze medal at the 29th International Olympiad in Informatics in Tehran, Iran. End of school year for 270.000 elementary and high school students in Macedonia
The school year ends on Friday for 188.000 elementary school pupils and 80.000 high school students. The traditional last day of school is June 10th, which is on Saturday, so instead the schools will close today. Enrollment in the high schools is on June 28th and 29th. Number of Pupils and Students in Macedonia Drops
A total of 185,119 pupils attended classes in regular elementary schools by the end of 2015/2016 school year, which is a drop of 1.7 percent compared to the previous school year, statistics show. The number of students in high schools by the end of 2015/2016 school year was 77,625 a 5.1 percent decrease compared to the previous school year, according to data of the State Statistical Office of Macedonia.
