Rehearsals for Toshe Proeski-inspired musical at MOB

Rehearsals for a musical in tribute to the late pop star Toshe Proeski have begun at the Macedonian Opera and Ballet (MOB).

The musical My Secret, dubbed after one of Toshe Proeski’s hits, will have its premiere in Skopje on March 10.

It is directed by actor-turned-director Toni Mihajlovski and stars Antonija Gigovska and Denis Dimoski – up-and-coming singers who recently won a reality talent show.

Speaking at a news conference on Friday, Minister of Culture Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska said the musical was an important project implemented in 2017 to mark the 10th anniversary of the death of Toshe Proeski, who was killed in a car accident.

“The project will bring back memories of our Toshe, his music… The messages of his songs, they way he interpreted them, his humane and noble mission have touched so many generations. Toshe has left us an invaluable heritage,” noted Kanceska-Milevska.

She said a lot of projects had been realized in the past ten years to preserve the memory of Toshe Proeski, most notably the construction of the Toshe Proeski Memorial Home in Krusevo. So far, it has attracted 400,000 visitors from Macedonia and abroad.

My Secret tells the story of a boy and a girl whose lives are filled with the music of Macedonia’s brightest pop star.
