French ambassador confident Macedonia will join European family

We are confident that Macedonia will join the European family, said French Ambassador to Macedonia, Christian Thimonier at Wednesday's observance of Europe Day in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"Welcome to the club, because you have made a significant step by receiving a clear recommendation. However, this is just the beginning of a journey," said Thimonier.

According to him, Europe Day is a great day for all, a day observed by everyone in the near future, adding "France is there with you on this path."

MoFA State Secretary Viktor Dimovski said this year marks the 25. anniversary from the establishment of Macedonia-France diplomatic ties, thanking the country for its cooperation, especially the Skopje-based French Embassy.

"The French support and partnership on our European and Euro-Atlantic path are exceptionally significant and I believe we will celebrate the next jubilee together in the big European family," added Dimovski.

The event included a lecture by Bordeaux University constitutional law professor Ferdinand Melin-Soucramanien themed "European Union and National Constitutional Identity".
