Russian diplomat and members of his family left Macedonia yesterday, - Russian agency TASS reported.
Macedonian government decided on March 26 to expel a Russian diplomat.
Macedonian Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov then said that the decision to expel a Russian diplomat was made in "close consultation with our partners and allies, in full solidarity with the UK, and in order to protect our own security interests of Macedonia." Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said the Russian diplomat in Macedonia was trying to get confidential information and violated the Vienna Convention.
According to TASS correspondent, those who left Macedonia in the Russian Embassy were sent with the sounds of a patriotic march. At the Skopje airport, the exiled Russian diplomat was accompanied by a group of Russian diplomats led by Ambassador Oleg Shcherbak.
The Russian ambassador to Macedonia said that Macedonia, as a result of the external influence, decided to carry out an unfriendly and hasty step for the country itself.
And Russia made a decision to expel a Macedonian diplomat from Moscow.
A number of EU member states, the United States, Canada and Australia have previously announced that they have decided to expel Russian diplomats after the incident with the poisoning of Sergei Skripal, a former Russian intelligence officer (GRU) in London. Britain accuses Moscow of this incident without giving any evidence. Washington has decided to expel 60 Russian diplomats. US officials have decided to close Russia's consulate in Seattle.
