We have fulfilled another significant promise to improve the healthcare system in the country. As of today, cannabis oil will be available for purchase without prescription across pharmacies in Macedonia. This oil will be with a less than 0.2 percent THC level, and it will available with two different concentrations of CBD­ 5 and 7 percent, the Health Ministry informed on Monday. “With this new product, we met the requests of the citizens and the expert community, whose remarks, opinions and suggestions we heard in public debates on this subject and we implemented them in a legal solution in March this year. Scenes of French Film 'A Fond' directed by Nicholas Benamou Filmed in Skopje

The French film "A Fond" by director Nicholas Benamou is expected to be projected in cinemas in France on December 21. The main location of the filming took place exactly on the Skopje bypass.

Last year, in the midst of filming, the bypass was closed from September 7-11 from 7 to 19 PM. Traffic was banned from the junction near Hipodrom to Saraj area.
After filming on the bypass, the whole machinery of the movie moved at the Negotino- Veles highway, where the section was also closed during shooting until October 23.
For this film 120 Macedonian drivers were part of the most exciting scenes of Macedonian highways, and were trained by French stunts. For the filming of the scenes are used the most modern technology ,for the first time used in Macedonia.

Time Travel: Skopje Antique Shops Are Full of Objects that Have Long Been Forgotten

Musical instruments, folklore costumes, uniforms, jewelry and various items and sundries which date back more than 100 years are arranged on the shelves in antique shops in the Old Bazaar, which are some kind of time machines that will take you on a journey in the 19th century through the days of the former Yugoslavia, until the independence of Macedonia.

Antique shops in the Skopje Bazaar, despite for collectors of antiquities, are as well very attractive for tourists who mostly buy traditional Macedonian costumes. But part of the owners of antiques complained that people come in their shop just to take a look at the objects and they joke that they will earn more if they collect money for the entrance.

Corruption Index: Macedonia with lowest position in region

Macedonia is ranked on the 107th position in the Index for the perception of corruption in 2017 by Transparency International (IT) which sees the country’s position to have fallen for 17 slots compared to the previous year and is the worst result for the country since the index’s existence, stressed Transparency International- Macedonia.
There was a reaction by VMRO-DPMNE about Macedonia’s ranking and it stated that SDSM’s governance is marked by many cases of corruption and criminal and that these cases including the nepotism contribute to this fall in the previous year, especially when there is no one to bear any responsibility.
SDSM responded that the ranking on the Corruption Perception Index is a “result of the 10-year criminal governance by VMRO-DPMNE and that the citizens have a clear understanding of who worked criminally corrupted.The ruling party said that the things are changing “and the results will evidently reflect the situation in 2018.”

Macedonian soldiers fired warning shots at Macedonia-Greece border

Macedonian soldiers have fired several warning shots in the air at the country's border with Greece to deter a group of migrants from crossing it illegally.
According to local media, one migrant was arrested and turned over to the police, while others returned to the territory of Greece.
The Macedonian Army said in a press release that the incident happened when one of its patrols detected a group of migrants illegally crossing the border near the regional road Gevgelija-Moin. 
According to this, the patrol vocally warned the group several times, but was ignored. Several warning shots were then fired in the air, which prompted the group to head back to Greek territory, Beta agency reported on Wednesday, citing MIA agency.

Nine Vinica Fortress terracotta icons to be exhibited at Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum

Nine medieval terracotta icons from Vinica Fortress will be part of a major exhibition of the Museum of Art and Archaeology Ashmolean at the University of Oxford next year. Presentation is one of the activities of cooperation between this British Museum and Ministry of Culture wherefore Paul Roberts, programme manager of Ashmolean and Culture Minister Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska signed Monday memorandum in Skopje.
The exhibition titled “Religions in Large Empires” will open on Oct. 2017 and will run until Jan. 2018. Archaeological Museum of Macedonia will be responsible for Vinica’s terracotta icons presentation at the event.
Roberts underlined that the exhibition will present the growth of great religions: Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism and Hinduism.

Name of the church and of the country to remain unchanged: Macedonia's Orthodox Church

The Archbishopric Council of the Macedonian Orthodox Church - Ohrid Archbishopric (MOC-OA) reaffirmed its position that the name of the MOC should not be changed and that the name of the country should not be changed as well.
This decision was reached after the MOC Council held its annual session on Friday and Saturday in a monastery in the village of Kalista in Struga.
The bishops adopted a resolution in which the MOC position of 26 December 2017 is upheld, namely 'not changing the constitutional position of Macedonian language, preserving the unitary character of Macedonia and protecting the Macedonian national identity," said MOC spokesman, Bishop Timotej.

Macedonia cancelled again Public call for financial support for Low-Cost Airlines

The Ministry of Transport and Communications has again cancelled the public call for financial support of airlines, released on September 13.
Minister Goran Sugareski told a press conference on Wednesday that Wizz Air was the only company to submit a bid, which does not correspond to the criteria of the public call.
In the bid, Wizz Air is planning introduce four destinations from Ohrid-based airport “St.Paul the Apostle” as of August 2019, which goes against one of the tender criteria.
“The call clearly reads that the airline is obliged to introduce two flights from the Ohrid airport as of January 2019, and additional two flights within a year from the agreement’s signing. Wizz Air has offered to introduce all four destinations in August 2019. Therefore, the commission established that the conditions of the public call have not been met and recommended that the call is cancelled. This leaves me with no other option than to cancel the procedure,” said Minister Sugareski.
