Ohrid hit by earthquakes in the past two days, residents spend the night outside


Other earthquakes have been registered in Ohrid during the night. According to the Seismologic Institute in Skopje, yesterday, the city was hit by 14 earthquakes measuring 3,4 to 3,6 on the Richter scale. A part of the residents have spent the night outside and in tents set up by humanitarian organizations.

This series of earthquakes has only caused material damages, while residents said that they were scared of being inside their homes. “What we went through was terrible. We spent the night outside. Fortunately, there were only material damages and no victims”, a resident from Ohrid said.

Over one thousand earthquakes have been registered from 18 May until today. The most powerful one was yesterday at 1.18 pm measuring 5 on the Richter scale and this spread panic among residents and tourists, but causing only small material damages.
