Macedonian basketball team is in Estonia for crucial qualifier


The Macedonian basketball team flew to Tallinn where they have the all-important game against Estonia on Wednesday. It's the last match in the 2019 World Championship Qualifiers, and Macedonia needs a win to be certain of advancing into the next round.

The unexpected loss to Kosovo in the first match cost Macedonia dearly. After beating Kosovo 87:74 in the second match, Macedonia maintained a chance to qualify but we need to beat Kosovo in the rankings. In case Macedonia loses in Estonia, Jordanco Davitkov's team must hope for an Estonian win against Kosovo.

"I saw the game against Estonia in Skopje at least six times. They are a team which shoots from all positions and rarely advances under the hoops. We will try to stop their point guards. We hope that luck will finally dawn on us and we will have our three point shots improve, given that it is our main weapon in the offense", said coach Davitkov.

Dime Tasovski was injured in the game against Kosovo and skipped training, but he is in the team that traveled to Estonia. The game begins at 17:30h on Wednesday.
