Turkish bloggers set to promote Macedonia as tourist destination

TAV Macedonia, backed by local businesses and establishment owners, has organized a four-day tourist visit to Macedonia for five influential Turkish bloggers in an attempt to show them the natural beauties of Macedonia, as a tourist attraction, and to attract more tourist from Turkey, it said Tuesday.

The popular bloggers, known by social media users in Turkey as yoldaolmak, kesfetsek, bizevdeyokuz and birhayalinpesinde, have stayed in Macedonia from May 24 until May 28. Also, their Facebook and Instragram accounts have over million followers, TAV Macedonia said.

According to the company, their tourist visit has been designed as both an informative and adventurous tour of the country, including marvelous places for sightseeing having historical landmarks in Skopje, Strumica, Dojran, Ohrid, Vevcani, Mavrovo, Debar, Bitola, etc.

Turkey, in fact, is the strongest market of tourists for Macedonia for many years, as proved by the statistics of tourist trips to the country, said Alper Ersoy, CEO of TAV Macedonia. “After the four-day stay and online-interactions with the community of followers of our guests, we expect to reach up to 2.5 million potential guests from Turkey,” he stated.

The initiative, TAV Macedonia noted, is part of the digital marketing of TAV Airports in Istanbul, which are focused on promoting the Macedonian airports at the largest international fairs of tourism and aviation and on presenting Macedonia as a tourist destination worldwide.

According to TAV Macedonia, the total number of passengers  at the two airports in Skopje and Ohrid has increased by eight per cent in the first four months of 2017. In the same period, i.e. from January to April, the most sought-after destination from the Alexander the Great airport is Istanbul, statistics show.
