The latest in the series of earthquakes that were felt in south-western Macedonia caused significant anxiety in Ohrid, Resen and other towns in the area on Monday. There are reports of minor damage to buildings from the 5 degree quake that was reported at 13:18 on Monday and was felt across the whole of Macedonia. No collapses of buildings were reported so far.
The epicenter was 10 kilometers to the east of Ohrid. It is the strongest of the series of quakes that were felt in the region over the weekend and in the night between Sunday and Monday. Monday's quake was followed by a 3 Richter degrees quake.
Many worried citizens left their homes immediately after the quake. The series of quakes come at the height of the tourist season in the main Macedonian resort town. A similar series of quakes were felt in the capital Skopje over several days in September 2016.
