16th CineDays film festival opens in Skopje


Swedish comedy 'The Square' - recipient of this year  Cannes Film Festival Palme d’Or, had the honor  late Thursday to open the 16th edition of the European Film Festival CineDays at Skopje cinema 'Millennium'.

On 19 November, the movie 'Secret Ingredient' by signed by Macedonian director Gjorce Stavrevski closes the  festival's official part, which is to be followed by a 10-day film marathon.

The festival will present 135 movies to compete in several categories, namely 20 titles - part of the gala program, 14 - Official Selection and CineBalkan, music documentaries, Swedish films under the 'Country in Focus' program, Macedonian short films and Student program. The festival's additional program includes seven concerts and four workshops.

This year the gala-program will offer several new movies of prominent film-makers, such as Michael Haneke, Darren Arronofsky, George Clooney, François Ozon, Werner Herzog, Aki Kaurismaki, Fatih Akin, Sofia Coppola...l
