President Ivanov meets Luxembourg’s FM Asselborn


President Gjorge Ivanov on Wednesday in Skopje met with the Foreign Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Jean Asselborn.

At the meeting, President Ivanov expressed content with the friendly relations flourishing between Macedonia and Luxembourg all the while stressing the need for strengthening of overall bilateral relations and mutual cooperation. To that end, the Macedonian President underscored the importance of advancing high-level political dialogue and using the potentials to heighten economic cooperation, Ivanov’s cabinet said in a press release.

Views and information regarding Macedonia’s prospect for joining NATO and the EU were shared. President Ivanov thanked his guest for the principled support of Luxembourg. The interlocutors also agreed it was necessary to boost the Euro-Atlantic integration process of Macedonia and the enlargement policy of the EU and NATO to be resumed further.

President Ivanov and FM Asselborn shared views about developments in the region and the current challenges facing Europe and the European Union. As regards the migrant crisis and the security challenges facing the European continent, the Macedonian President noted the need to intensify and improve bilateral, security-related cooperation at European and global level, stated the press release.
