Macedonian Comic Authors Awarded in Serbia

At the international comic competition within the manifestation Salon of comic Belgrade, which is held this weekend in the capital of neighboring Serbia for the 15th time, part of the awards went to authors from Macedonia. The young Kalina Pechevska from Skopje for the strip "The Discarded Woman" won the "Otfrlena zena" award for the best participant in the category until the age of 15, and Maria Stojanovska, also from Skopje, won the award for the "Kafe na zidot" the sponsor of the manifestation "Sirius Production".


Unlike the previous few years when only 4-5 Macedonian authors took part in this prestigious comic festival in the region, this number has been increased for several times this year, for which the Comic Center of Macedonia - Veles has a merit, from where they sent fifteen comic strips to young people Macedonian talents. In fact, according to the number of participants, 23 of the total of 272, as well as the number of awards won, Macedonia is right behind the host Serbia.

"The Comic Center of Macedonia practices a performance at such international competitions and festivals, a practice that we are beginning to intensify and expand. In particular, we send comic books to people to SCM collaborates, primarily young comic book authors. The real facts point out that the Macedonian comic scene is insufficiently represented on such events abroad. At present, except for the festivals in Leskovac and Prizren, the more experienced comic book authors do not participate in other competitions, "- project coordinator Tome Trajkov.

Besides the two winners in the official selection of the hundred best comics were and Macedonian authors Katerina Nikoloska, Mirko Bojadzhijevski, Evgenija Trajkovska, Katerina Apostolska, Stefania Ristovski and Aleksandar Stevanov, this year's laureate of the award for the development and promotion of the comics art in Macedonia "Ljupco Filipov", which will be awarded at the International Strip Salon in Veles 2017 in the middle of next month.
