Gruevski: First round took place in undemocratic atmosphere with irregularities – elections are not over

There have been numerous irregularities, violations of election law before and during the election day which led to the electoral results, namely to SDSM’s advantage or victory in some municipalities, opposition VMRO-DPMNE leader Nikola Gruevski told a press conference on Sunday.

‘As the party leader I bear the greatest responsibility for the election results and the reasons for such outcome and (the party’s) future course will be discussed after completion of the election process,’ Gruevski said.

The party , he said, will submit complaints for all acts of violation of the election process.

‘The election process is not completed. VMRO-DPMNE is a large party with great number of supporters,’ Gruevski said.

VMRO-DPMNE mayoral candidates were subjected to attacks during the pre-election period, Gruevski said, pointing out that the police supported such activities, being put in service to the ruling party.

‘We got information on a great number of attempts for bribing voters. Naturally the whispering campaign resumed and no day passed without unfounded criminal charges against some of our candidate for or incumbent mayor,’ Gruevski said.
