Macedonian Candidate for Oscars 'Liberation of Skopje' With Positive Reviews in Finland

Macedonian candidate for the "Oscars" - the film "Liberation of Skopje" directed by the duo Danilo and Rade Serbedzija received positive reviews from the Finnish media, and one of the critics called it "small film with a big heart."

As stated in the announcement of the production company "Partysans Film", leading regional news "Torun Sanomat" wrote that the film is not only typically based on a story of the struggle of resistance against the Nazis as an absolute evil, but  talks about people who are trying to maintain their identity in special circumstances, and adds that the directors managed to show humanity of its characters.

Monthly "Voima" points out that the military conditions are showed authentically, and the characters are psychologically nuanced, while the critic Ilta Sanomat, who writes for one of the largest newspapers in Finland, says that the suffering of civilians is very convincingly shown ,with special praise for the role of Rade Serbedzija.

Portal "Smackthjack.net" writes positively about naturalness of the actors, emphasizing the character of German officer Hans, played by Mikko Nousainen, it is not shown like a cliche character but with a touch of humanity. Although "Liberation of Skopje" is a small film, he has a big heart and gives hope that despite all the horrors, comes better tomorrow,  the portal writes.

Realized as a Macedonian-Croatian-Finnish co-production, the film premiered at the festival in Pula. Then take part in festivals in Sarajevo, Bitola, Helsinki, Tuzla, and followis its presentation of festivals in Bratislava, Zagreb, Belgrade, Palm Springs and Montevideo.
